  •  WE BELIEVE IT MUST BE A NUMBER REPRESENTING WHERE WE ARE GIVEN THE MAJOR FACTORS IN OUR LIFE INCLUDING YEARS TO RETIREMENT, SAVINGS, SPENDING PLANS, MORTGAGE, DEBT, FUTURE ONE TIME AND RECURRING SPENDING AND INCOME, THE IMPACT OF PREDICTED SOCIAL SECURITY AND LONG TERM CARE NEEDS.

 

  • WE BELIEVE THERE SHOULDN’T BE PRODUCTS ASSOCIATED WITH CALCULATING THIS NUMBER – IT NEEDS TO BE FREE OF BIAS – JUST THE FACTS

 

  • WE BELIEVE IT NEEDS TO BE A BASE NUMBER THAT IS BASED IN REALITY; STEEPED IN HISTORICAL DATA AND NOT ABLE TO BE MANIPULATED BY SOMEONE’S GUESS AT INFLATION OR RATES OF RETURN.

 

  • WE BELIEVE THE INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE INTEGRATED SO THE IMPACT OF CHANGING ONE VARIABLE ACCURATELY REFLECTS THE REALITY OF THAT CHANGE.

 

  • WE BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION HOLDING THE STANDARD AND THAT ORGANIZATION WILL REGULATE THE URSLA NUMBER GIVEN STRICT CONDITIONS IN THEIR CHARTER.

Fair URSLA is a not for profit company set up to hold the standard for this number.  Part of its charter includes the following:

1.  It is set up strictly to hold and keep the URSLA measurement. 

2.  It must have an advisory board of people who are dedicated to the unbiased nature of the score, will review and vote on adding pieces to the standard, and are dedicated to the advancement of financial literacy and rights of the individual to become financially empowered.

3. It will evaluate the viability of tools that measure URSLA.

4. It will continually advocate for free access for individuals to get this number; insuring accessibility for all people.
