An internet and media campaign to educate the public calling for passage of this legislation.
Television and internet messages encouraging people to become more financially literate and the need to take care of the dependent that they are not aware of at this time (their own self in 20 years)
Write up a story, develop a song, and/or produce a video of what it will be like if you ignore your INVISIBLE DEPENDENT. The most creative video will be used in a national campaign to help people become aware of why we need to pass this legislation:
HERE IS THE CONCEPT:
Recently one of our volunteers was talking with an individual who told him of how she suddenly realized she needed to start paying attention to her retirement. The reason is she realized she had a dependent that she never thought of before -- this dependent is her -- her own self in 10-15 years. The thought that it is her actions now that would make the difference on whether she would be out on the street or living a decent life suddenly hit her.
This made us realize how important it was for people to see that they need to work NOW to make a difference in the future for the person they will be someday. We all feel healthy and strong now, but at the age of 90, that may not be the case and it is a sad time when we don't have the ability to make any difference!
A campaign to help with an early warning system (which is part of what this bill will provide) will benefit all Americans. If we don't do something now, if people don't start to take responsibility and be encouraged through this type of legislation now, those who wake up later will be in a very bad situation and those few who have started planning will be in a nation of such need that they will be asked to sacrifice to help provide to those who did not plan.
